Memory Stick against exam cheating

Schools should introduce the digital exam, where students use their own laptops, and many students may be tempted to cheat. Researchers at the Norwegian Computing Center has found the solution by using free software launched from a memory stick.

- During the examination system student will run a customized version of Ubuntu Linux system. Student system will include software that is necessary for the completion of the exam, only permitted sites will be available and network access will be limited to the school's exam online.

- In this way, students are less tempted to cheat, "said Truls Fretland.

It is of course a discussion about should have access to all aid during an exam, and up exercises are good if one could easily answer them with all the aids available. But if one now to arrange examination with a limited selection of aid, this is probably a potential solution.     I now say only: what did they with a computer? Give them a typewriter, so we do not have the problem.

    When new technology is used in the old setting, the whole thing turned on its head. The point of computers is precisely communication! We need to think a lot of basic ideas again, where cheating is something entirely different than having contact with others.

    Totally agree with Einar.

    What is interesting is to measure students' reflections on the content: how to analyze and synteserer, manufacturing, konluderer, presententerer and documents - in communication! Everything is communication - only in different varieties. Why do we have the death and life measure monologue, when it actually overodnede goal is to teach students and be in dialogue.
